Ingredients

Cake:

½ cup butter (softened)

1 ⅔ cups sugar

2 eggs

1 ½ tsp vanilla extract

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

1 ½ tsp cinnamon

½ tsp nutmeg

3 cups peeled, diced apples (about 2 large)

Optional: ¼ cup chopped nuts

Caramel:

1 ⅓ cups brown sugar

2 tbsp half-and-half

4 tbsp butter

 

Instructions

1· Preheat Oven: Heat to 353°F (174°C)· Grease a 9-inch springform pan·

2· Prepare Batter: Cream butter and sugar, beat in eggs and vanilla· Combine dry ingredients, then mix into wet· Fold in apples and nuts·

3· Bake: Pour batter into the pan· Bake for 35–40 minutes·

4· Make Caramel: Heat brown sugar, half-and-half, and butter in a saucepan until smooth·

5· Finish Baking: Pour caramel over the cake, bake 10–15 more minutes until set·

6· Cool & Serve: Let cool for 15 minutes before slicing·
