Ingredients:
For the Pie Crust:
Pre-made pie dough or pizza dough
Olive oil for brushing
For the Burger Layer:
1 lb ground beef or turkey (or plant-based burger)
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
For the Pizza Topping:
1 cup pizza sauce or marinara
Pepperoni slices (optional)
1 cup more shredded mozzarella cheese
Sliced onions, bell peppers, or other favorite pizza toppings
Fresh basil or oregano (optional for garnish)
For Assembly:
Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp water)
Grated Parmesan cheese (optional for topping)
Directions:
1. Preheat the Oven:
Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Prepare the Pie Crust:
Roll out the pre-made pie dough or pizza dough and place it into a greased pie dish, leaving some overhang. Brush lightly with olive oil for a golden crust.
3. Cook the Burger Layer:
In a pan over medium heat, brown the ground beef (or turkey/veggie burger) until fully cooked. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Remove from heat and mix in 1 cup of shredded cheese.
4. Assemble the Pie:
Spread the cooked burger mixture evenly into the pie crust.
Pour pizza sauce or marinara over the burger layer.
Add pepperoni slices, sliced onions, bell peppers, or other pizza toppings.
Sprinkle with additional mozzarella cheese.
5. Top the Pie (Optional):
If using a top crust, lay another layer of dough over the filling, crimping the edges. Brush the top with egg wash. If not, just brush the exposed crust edges.
